Kioti CX2510 (2021)
My 2020 Kioti CX2510 compact tractor started stalling last week and it became progressively worse over a few days until it would not run at all. The fuel sediment filter looked like it was packed with pink grease. I removed it and I from what I can find on the internet, this is what gelling looks like.
I have used dyed off road diesel from a busy local truck stop, and have treated with opti-lube xpd at the winter ratio of 2.5 oz per 5 gallons.
The fuel in the tank looks fine.
I drained the tank and it all came out fine, but I did notice what appears to be black pitting along many sections of the metal tank on the inside. (I used one of those flexible fiberoptic cameras to examine the inside of the tank).
I keep the tractor in my garage which stays well above freezing, probably in the upper 40痴 to upper 50痴 most of the winter.
I'm attaching photos, so hopefully I'll do it correctly.

I知 wondering if this is indeed gelling. If so, why did it happen, and why only at the sediment filter?

Is the pitting in the tank normal?

What should I do to get up and running again?

That's it.

Seems the fuel seperates and the parafin chrystals clog the filter. Maybe, it's because the "space" gets bigger inside the filter as oposed to inside a small fuel line.

Any issues I had were ALWAYS at the filter it seems. There are heated filters which would be a great option in cold climates.

Change the fuel filter and use power service white bottle.. How old is the tractor?...

Definitely gelled up. I don't know how much winter resistent died fuel is. I'd drain the tank altogether, change the filter and put regular diesel in there plus Power Service in the white bottle.
Are you sure you have up to 50C in you garage?

May want to change your supplier as well ! Had the same problem a few years ago, Chipper and Tractor froze up, pickups were ok ,they had fuel heaters. I went to the station, they sell a Lot of diesel and the head of maintenance for them was there, I told him I wasn't impressed, he said he had been changing filters all day! Been getting my diesel from another supplier next town over , treat with Howes , end of problem !

You may have to change the filter a few times if all the buildup from the tank gets loose.

I don't know how much winter resistent died fuel is.

Around here, the dyed fuel gets the same treatment as the over the road stuff. Beyond a certain date each year, the stations start carrying a lower gel-point formulation. When it happens at each station is a matter of how long it takes them to use up any summer blend they have left over before they refill.

the times i had gelling issues it was always inside the fuel filter. Changed the filter and good to go. Always had spares on hand for the winter. Started using the red Diesel 911 though and that solved my gelled filter problems

Yes that is gelled fuel. I would go with the white bottle Power Serve.
I always use the heavy dose which is twice the normal dose.
In your situation I would clean that strainer with a bit of gas or kerosene,
then dump 5 gallons of kerosene in your tank with the double dose of Power Serve.
I only use the red bottle 911 as directed which is to clean out gelled fuel.
You never know what kind of fuel you are going to get at a service station.
Most of their fuel is winterized with additives until it gets very cold then they will start to blend #1 or kerosene in with the #2.
