Is Walnut wood worth anything?

Thanks some much for all of the replies. More information on the tree is that I believe it is a Black Walnut and more importantly the tree was cut off at one time in its beginning. There are 3 main trunks that are about 3-4 ft across and narrows to about 2-3 in about 12 ft. The base is 6-7 ft across but is only about 3-4 ft long. Because of its location there is no way that most of the metal objects would be a problem. I can't say that there are no bullets in it for sure. I attached some pictures if anyone wants to take a look at it. Thanks again, you have all been great.

Just curious - did anything in particular cause it to fall so suddenly? Storm, etc? You've got me nervously looking at all of the black walnuts that surround my house...

Trying to answer your question. First step was the flood here in the NorthEast. The last straw was last night during a bad wind/rain storm. I did not even think about this tree coming down during this semi-mild storm. Thanks again for the nice replies.

About an 1/2 hr ago, a huge Walnut tree uprooted on my property. It just missed the power and phone lines when it fell. The tree is about 70 ft long and very straight. Does anyone know if this tree is worth the price of removal at least to a lumbermill? Thanks for the past answers to my questions.

From the looks of the photos, I don't see it's worth much. I would not run it through my planner if it's from a house site. As stated by others, some portable band saw guys split the take with you. If they come and look at it and not interested, fire wood

Yep, the TC21 is running great. I got about 450 hrs on it. I missed the forum and seem to now have more time to post. I was reading from time to time, but I enjoy the interaction with other tractor owners. Great to hear from you.

So what did you find out about selling it or did you just have it removed?

My neighbor helped us remove it and took the wood for fire wood. I contacted several people and got no positive response. Most said that it wouldn't be worth it for one tree. I can say that the wood was absolutely wonderful looking. I actual saved one log for myself in case I wanted to do something with it. Thanks again for all the help.
