So this 1547 im sure has the original
2008 glowplugs still in it. I have soaked them with pb blaster,pl100, diesel fuel, tried wax trick and done heat cycles with a small hand held torch over 48 hrs. These things are welded.

About 1mm of scaly rust has come
Off since the soaking started.

Tried a pneumatic bolt breaker with a hammer and nada.

Next step is bigger torchs and trying a pneumatic bolt breaker on a air gun.

I read atf dextron and kerosene mixed 50/50 is good stuff. Going to try this too.

Anyone have any miracle procedure? Lol
One step away from pulling the head. Really would like to avoid this.

As im sure new headgasket, resurfacing the head, new head bolts as im sure they must be stretch bolts. Be $1000 up here in the rust belt.

Amazing how the tractor is built around the fuel tank it seems lol

I've used atf and acetone for stuck bolts and the sort. The atf provides the lubrication and acetone goes after the rust to open channels for the atf. Good luck!

I've also heard that sometimes using a hand impact wrench helps -- the combination of hammering down force and hammering rotational force sometimes works better than a traditional impact wrench....

If you can get it started, have you tried running it for awhile to warm up the head?

Yup did that a few times day 1. Once hot sprayed pb blaster and pl100. Surprisingly how half way of temp guage isnt really that hot. Could touch the head easily still.

Warmed with small torch atleast 6 times.tried using cold water to shock it. Nada

I soaked them with atf and kerosene twice today. Going to continue for a couple more days.

Soaked for a week with atf and kerosene. Dont think did much. Hit with a bigger torch today.

2 let go and came out. Both had no resistance on ohm meter yet with a battery charger both started to glow after 10 seconds.

The new ones had around 1ohm resistance.

The bad news 2 twisted off.

Hate to hear that..but I know the feeling..
R u going to pull the head or just run 2 GP’s.??

Time to pull the head and take it to a competent rebuilder or machine shop and let them remove the stuck glo plugs and machine the head and of course you need a new head gasket among other parts.

Cut off the center off the glow plugs. Built up with mig weld and welded a 1/2 nut on. Few heat sessions with a big torch and the other 2 came out.

Bought an easy out kit but didnt want to deal with shavings. The heat from the mig helped loosen things up. It was a small mig so nothing actually stuck to the heavy cast iron cyl head.a bonus.

In the end the penetrating fluid helped to lift the rust off the head. Im sure none actually made it down in the threads.

So crusty one frost plug sprung a leak from rust.

Up and running again.

All the Blaster in the world, and it's always the heat that actually works.

I like to avoid the stink, and the smoke, that burning "penetrant" makes, and go right to the heat.

Glad you were successful.
