Iseki Starter/Coil

My Iseki (Japanese of the US Bolens brand) 27 hp tractor is hard to start (and sometimes won't) when hot. Battery and alternator check out. I'm thinking it is the coil that sits on top the starter. Had the same trouble on a '69 Chevelle one time and it was coil.

Can anyone recommend where to go to find this part? I'd sure appreciate it!

I visit a Kabota Dealership here in Ontario Canada....some Kabota parts are the same and fit like the special air filter/oil filters etc. but the engine parts like the water pump/alternator/starter etc are Case International 255....I just picked up an exhaust gasket..next day shipping pretty quick....the Case International 255 has the same 3 cyl. diesel engine as whats in my Iseki...it pays to look around for options...for me bein' in Canada....it is way too exspensive for me for shipping and the US exchange....Ampa

Thanks folks. I appreciate the info. Some have already responded and unfortunately don't have the part, but I'm still trying. The info on the Case is very interesting. Didn't know that. Thanks to you North of the Border from this southern boy!

Try atrebuilders.com I have had them work on some grey starters. They sometimes even have rebuilts you can swap for your core. They show a new one for $175. That seems pretty fair to me.

Is this a gas engine, cause i didnt think any diesel would use a coil.

kind of late posting this if you have not found the coil also know as starter solenoid post the starter number and i will see if we have it in stock also in a lot of starters when they get hot and the bushings if they are worn out will also cause the same problem. hope this helps.

I am surprised to read about the CIH 255 in this thread. The IH 254/ CIH 255 was manufactured by Mitsubishi and I am surprised to hear that your Iseki shares the same engine. What model do you have?

I have the BOLENS (ISEKI) TX1704 (G174) this compact tractor has the Mitsubishi 3 cyl. diesel engine.... I lifted the hood on this Case International 255 and I was surprised to see this tractor had the same engine....at the same time I needed an exhaust gasket cause I had to remove the leftside shroud to get to the starter as I needed to wire up my new amp meter..which don't work anyway as I need a volt meter that displays volts/verses amps... anyhow the manifold had one broken stud so I replaced that while I had the whole upright muffler off.... the old gasket was stuck on the flange and I broke most of it... I was able to save half of it for a sample...but misplaced it.....I asked the young guy at the parts counter to order one for a Case International 255....I've since installed the new gasket with no problems....I also noticed that although the rest of this Case International 255(drivetrain) is not quite the same except for maybe the brake assembly which I noticed has the same plates on each side of the rear axle(drive) as my ISEKI...so I gather it would use the same brake drums and shoes....but like I mentioned I spend a lot of time looking at all the different brands at these dealerships...plus I ask many questions of what part will fit and which one won't...I found out recently I can buy a new rad core and take the core to any rad shop to install....and the rad core can be orderd from any Kabota dealer...so I hope all this new info on the ISEKI compact tractors helps some of you guys out there that are having a problem finding new and used parts..I almost forgot to mention I bought a new ignition switch for a Kabota and done away with the old two switch system...the spot where the one switch was... I've since installed a 12 volt cigarette lighter socket which comes in quite handy for when I need to inflate the tires on this tractor of mine....take care.....Ampa

Your Iseki number and your Bolens number do not match up. The G174 is actually a TX 1500 F The TX 17XX series would be a Bolens 19X.
