Iseki tx1300f : Hard to start

Hi guys I'm a new member ,just now got around to posting something. I recently purchased my iseki tx1300f . I was told it was ran out of fuel and they were unable to restart.So I purchased it without hearing it run. It did spin over and acted like it wanted to start.For $750 I thought I would give it a shot.So after getting it home and having the starter rebuilt I finally got it running. Ran pretty good overall,little noisy but I think thats normal for these machines.It was also hard to restart after shutting it off,the bad battery did not help much either.So after putting in another battery I was able to get it running again ,but when I removed the hose from valve cover while it was running it had lots of blowby.Still have not checked compression ,but pretty sure its goin to need rings. Trying to decide if I should just remove valve cover and oil pan and throw in a set of rings or if I should remove engine and do a complete overhaul,not sure what that would cost.When I had it running I did drive it around the yard and everything seemed to work, clutch felt ok hydraulics worked and the 4 wheel drive. Just curious what you guys thought. Any advice would be appreciated. Will also try to get some pics to post.Thanks.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to TBN :welcome: You can do a lot of things without taking the motor out completely. New rings and rod bearings are pretty easy to do with the engine in place and not a budget-breaker, but not what I'd consider cheap either. If you have it bored out it will be an expensive rebuild assuming you can even get oversized pistons which I can't think of a place that sells them off the top of my head. If it were me, I'd probably run it for a while as-is until you familiarize yourself with all of its problems. I'd only go after the rings if the smoke was objectionable (blue), compression was significantly lower than recommended (350 psig or less), or if I had to go in anyway to fix something else. Make sure your glow plugs are working because they may be the cause of the hard starting issue.

When I got mine it hadn't run in years. I found that the
rings were stuck in the ring grooves of the pistons.
The valves were also leaking compression. The rest
of the engine looked good as far as wear goes.
I removed the head and oil pan and then the pistons
and got the rings free. I lapped the valves and bought
new valve springs and honed the cylinders. I cleaned the old
rings and reassembled everything and so far so good.
