Anybody have a NAPA number for an isolated ground selenoid for Ford 841 diesel.
Trying to get back to neutral safety switch.
Bought the tractor recently and the guy I got it from put on a new selenoid;
It has the usuall two large posts and the "S" and "I" smaller ones.
I replaced the GM alternator and got the idiot light to work.
Currently wired for starter on the switch mode but want to get back to the safety aspect. I guess I just need the right number as I have all the wiring figured out.

Why not just use the oem solenoid?.. easier... probably cheaper.

in any case... NAPA does have the 4 post iso grnd solenoid in their application charts.. I went there and they let me look thru the books and I found the numbers.. they will probably let you do the same.. or you can hit a CNH dealer.. or a TSC store.

If you are trying to get back to using the thumb button that grounds the terminal on the relay.. then technically.. you can use a 3-terminal relay from an 8n or naa.. or even the 00 series. Bat hot to one big stud other big stud to starter.. thumb switch wire to small 3rd stud, with it facing toward the tractor, and the big stud onthe right being the hot bat stud.

If you go the 4 stud iso route.. one small stud to power or switched key power.. one small stud to thumb switch.. large studs betwixt battery and starter.

Thanks, I hope I can assume that this is a 4 stud type.
Thanks for the legwork, every time I try to explain to some counter people they act like they could care less if I get the right part or not and if I am not succinct enough I usually get frustrated and leave and come to this forum, which I might add you have answered a lot of my questions in the past and at least here it can be hammered out what the problem is without feeling like an idiot.
Thanks again

I've dealt with that counter person before! (didn't like it either...) A good counter person is now typically about to retire. The young kids don't even know what most of the parts do much less where they go or how to get them there. Used to be you could walk it holding the old part and the guy would have a correct new one on the counter for you with out your saying a word. Or maybe I was just spoiled?

Yep.. that's the 4 poster, metal can style.

I happened to be running in napa at lunch yesterday and thought of you, and went to the counter and asked about your relay.. got the usual blank stare, and then just said 'hand me the solenoid application book'.. they did so, and ont he very first page, bottom right hand corner, there it was... isolated base relay, 4 post.. with a schematic showing small terms s & i with a coil between them, isolated from the mounting base/metal housing.. then the large terminal.. etc.

counter people don't know much anymore.. it's pretty sad when WE have to ask for the book, and look it up for them....tsk..tsk...

I am fortunate that we have a Napa, Carquest and an O'rielleys all with "old hands" at the back desks. And my job lets me talk to the back desk (commercial sales) guy's regular.

I walked in last saturday with the continuous duty solenoid out of the bobcat and handed it too the Napa guy, He said to me, Continuous? Which quality level would you like? Looked in the book for about 5 seconds, walked to the back, brought back two, The top of the line USA made and the slightly cheaper import....................

The USA one came home with me.

It is nice when you get that service.

Them CD solenoids are much heavier built than the ID solenoids. Bet they cost a bit more too!

This one was $35, yeah, I coughed a bit, but it is the difference between Kabukie Bob starting under his own power, or being persuaded with the ether bunny :D

The import was right at $30 I think.
