I've got a strange issue that I can't seem to figure out. I was using a box blade to push some large logs around and my 3 point stopped going up. I figured something must have bent or popped off in the linkage. I took off the cover to the hydraulic reservoir and didn't notice anything wrong. I figured maybe something happened to the pump so I purchased a gauge to read the PSI from the AUX port. Reading was very low, so I figured the pump went out. I went ahead and replaced it. At the same time, I replaced and cleaned all the filters. Same reading. I did notice that if I put the throttle all the way up, that the arms would rise a bit but without weight added. Also, hydraulic fluid would come out in the reservoir. I figured that a bypass valve or something must be stuck open or a spring broken. I took apart and cleaned the control valves and housing. I didn't notice anything out of order so I put it all back. It is doing the same thing... Not really sure what it could be at this point. Any suggestions would be helpful!

Does it have power steering, and use the main reservoir for fluid supply..?? I've read other threads where the flow divider have has stuck, and caused hydraulic problems.

Here is an exploded view of the flow divider, and internals from the IH online parts store, for reference.

Make sure all other hydraulic controls (loader, etc.) are in a neutral position. You don't have enough flow to operate two things at once. It is also possible the three point ram is leaking internally. Of course you could also have a pressure bypass somewhere sticking open.

There isn't any power steering. It's a fairly simple system.

No loader and the piston looked in good shape. I do agree that is is a pressure bypass stuck but not sure where to check as I have gone through all the controls.

I was always under the impression that this is a bad thing to do??

I went through the valve controls again and rebuilt the components with a kit. Still the same result. I am wondering if the issue is air in the system. Maybe there isn't enough pressure to open a valve and that is why I don't get a reading on the gauge attached to the aux port. I don't see a easy way to bleed the system. Have you guys done this before? Any tips?

Mybe when rebuiling everything you dropped a small piston and its very small spring and did not see it ?
