Some time back I posted a thread about a car accident resulting in injury of a guy who was supposed to harvest my soya beans.

So here is the rest of the story. The guy (Randy) is still not doing well. Therefore his friend came with his combine and harvest the beans for us. When I wanted to pay him he asked only for fuel money and told us to give the rest of money to Randy. They will also hold a benefit to raise money for his health expenses. It is nice to know and be friend with people like that.

My neighbor told my wife that he didn't take money from him either. That is pretty sizeable contribution. I think about $4500 jut for two of us and there might be other people he did the harvest for in Randys behalf.

A man is certainly lucky to have friends like that. A True Friend is priceless--better than money in the bank. My Dad told us kids that "By the time a man is born until the day he dies, he is lucky to be able to count his TRUE FRIENDS on one hand. Aside from Family members, there is a neighbor of mine that is positively included in that category. We are there for each other--Day or Night. His name is Harvey Holden. I hope that he doesn't find out that I posted this, because he is laid back, and does not expect any praise for his good deeds. He represents what I regard as a true member of "Americana" that is rapidly disappearing.

Have to be well respected to be thought of that way, tells you about his character for sure.

Yesterday I offered to spread the new rock my neighbor had delivered for his driveway using my Land Pride Grading Scraper. I'd seen him trying to back blade it wiith his loader bucket with mixed results. It only took about 40 minutes for me to do, and better than half of that was just visiting. He was very appreciative, even offered to pay me which I politely declined. Shoot, I was having fun!

So instead, he offerred to let me get as much dirt as I need for a couple of projects, and use his equipment if I wanted. That will keep me from having to buy and have the dirt delivered.

And most importantly, I've got a happy neighbor.
