because chances are you won't use the wrong type of grease on your loader and backhoe pins, and won't have spent 2 hours in the garage tonight removing and cleaning every loader pin in prep for the proper grease because you're kind of **** that way.

Not that I would know anything about that.

Ok, so I don't have the manual in front of my and I want to know, what type of grease are you supposed to use?

Actually the manual recommends Moly EP or using a grease containing Molybdenum disulfide. I had used straight lithium NLGI 1, which is recommended only for use at the speed control pedal and battery terminals.

Some might consider it splitting hairs, but I would expect less wear out of the pins in the long run with the proper lubricant.

Cool thanks. Now have to go home and look to see what I've been using. I can't remember what I bought the last time. Next question. If it turns out I'm using the wrong type of grease, can you just start using the right kind, and over time you would have pushed out the old grease or should you clean out everything and start fresh?

srossman,
I read a long thread a while back that talked about grease compatibility. I bought a used BX and started greasing it with what I had. I believe the final conclusion was that greasing frequently with the new stuff will evetualluy push out the old. Apparently, if two greases are not compatible, the combination can reduce the effectiveness of the grease. Answer, grease more often.

I would agree with kwolfe, in my case I just wanted to make it right. The BH will be a different story, since I'm not going to try and take out the bushings for the main boom, in that case I'll just force new grease through.

Nothing wrong with Lithium complex grease. Now the NGLI# 1 raises a eye brow. It should be NGLI# 2, the #1 will be to thin unless your working in extreme cold. I alway's recomend Moly fortified grease for FEL and BH applications.

The canister actually said NGLI 1 1/2. But yes it was very thin, making a mess and squeezing out.
