My tractor was out of commision a week or so due to a fuel filter assumbly leak. It set in the stables. Apparently a bird decided it was fair game for a nesting spot. They ended up building a straw and llama hair nest... Right next to the radiator return line. How did I find this out... Well the return line was pushed up against the fan belt and the hot water pouring out was my first clue. So Now I need to fix this!!!
I guess its ok, I needed to buy some new fuel hose anyway, so Now I can just replace it all while I am under the bonnet.

Gary, I had a mouse do the samething on top of the exhaust manafold on my old Oliver 550. How did I know....... by the fire that it started! Not fun at all, because the gas tank was right above the fire!

When i replaced my headgasket this spring I had a bird build a nest in one of the empty cylinders. I had just removed the head and was cleaning it and the tools, took abourt two hours. When I got back to the tractor suprise-suprise.

Sounds like the bird felt very comfortable around you.

Couple years ago mother mouse built her home between radiator and the fan,and its a good thing I do spot checks before starting up..talk about a pain cleaning that out.

I had a bird nest on the rear axle of my F20D earlier this spring. Yesterday I went to use my other tractor and a mouse had filled my horizontal muffler with the dog's Kibbles and Bits. I thought the dog was eating way too much for her size!

I store my tractor in a rat infested garage for a couple of months at a time, so it is fair game for the rodents. However, I read that rats don't like the smell of mothballs, so I started spreading them around, and on, the tractor about a year ago. So far, I have seen no sign of them and I think they have left the garage. When I open the garage door now, I get a big whiff of mothballs.

I guess its pretty common to have varmits nest when we park our tractors in the stalls & barns. But I didn't expect the birds to peck at my seat and try to take all the foam out! Ouch!

I have lots of llama wool laying around so my seats are most likley safe. It is funny to see all the woolen nest in our trees.

Ever see those brown ( pine tree spiders ) that are about the size of a nickel, and up. Ive seen tons of nests around my place with cow and horse hair... ( On thinking about it, I guess we used to make felt from horse hair right? )
