I was wondering about dual wheels. I've got a 1970 JD 500 Series B (70 HP /19k lbs) TLB (2 wheel drive). I'm trying to do some work in a wet area and I'm always getting stuck, sometimes right down to the frame. Now, I know, you can't get stuck with a TLB but it can take the better part of the afternoon to get back on solid ground. Then, since the area I'm working is swampy, (to say nothing of the newly installed ruts) I have to wait on the weather to dry it out. Last summer was nearly a complete waste.
The rear tires are 18.4-28's and I forget what the fronts are. I'm thinking that if I could set it up with duals at both ends I'd have a fighting chance. Has anyone got any experience with one of these machines running dual wheels front and rear? How about- how set up the dual wheels, what besides the obvious do I need to outfit my machine?
Am I looking down the wrong path?
I appreciate any help on this.
