I paid mine off early a couple of months ago (Kubota
L4400). Feels nice, but the cash once used for tractor payments has other debts to relieve so no fun money for now.
When I got this tractor it was more than I ever hoped for and probably more tractor than I actually need. However, what I have found, as most of you probably have, is that you find 'needs' to match the tractor's capability. This machine has vastly improved my property in ways I didn't forsee at the time of purchase. I am content with the tractor but as someone mentioned it is natural to start thinking of something bigger and better. Spending time at TBN reading about other people's bigger and better tractors doesn't help! And I do find myself drooling over bigger more capable tractors that I
clearly do not need. But in the end, if I look at my tractor and my needs objectively, my current tractor is really perfect for me and anything bigger might actually limit some of the things I do. When I first got the tractor I wasn't
into tractors. It was just a tool. I really wasn't even excited about getting it. Well, its still a tool but its a
fun tool and it is getting harder to be rational and objective about what I really need. And as much as I'd love a 7040 with a cab and a yadda yadda yadda, I think my little
L4400 is going to be around for my kids and maybe their kids.
The bad thing is that now, I start looking at little rusty old tractors in barns and along highways and think, hey, it would be fun to fix that thing up........I hope I'm not catching something.
