Many of you know that I have a late 70's International tractor/loader with 3pt hitch(click here for some photos). It is pretty large 4 cylinder gas engine, 50PTO HP, HST with a cab. We've had it since around 1991 or so. It was purchased to cut in an access road from the highway and mow between the rows of some trees we had planted on about 20 acres that we own outside of town. Well, it was beat when I bought it and I beat it a little more. When we bought the Power Trac in 2001, I stopped using it and it has been sitting in or behind our garage for 4 years. I wanted to sell it, but found that the steering had locked up on me. After getting that working, the front tire blew out. I wasn't going to spend $80.00 on a tire just to sell it, so I called a local International salvage yard and asked if they had any used tires. The gentleman there started asking me questions about the tractor, and before long, he said that instead of me buying a tire from him, he'd like to make an offer on the tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif We agreed upon a price and he sent me a check. It gets picked up this weekend.

Sooooo, I used the PT425 to set the 6' box blade on the bucket and the 5' brush hog near the back. Then I fought with it for a few minutes until I got it hooked up... I will NEVER go back to 3pt implements again. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Congrats on the sale Dave, that's a pretty neat way to find a buyer! You probably had some fairly large implements behind that monster? I can see how they might be a pain. Mine are small enough that I can horse them around a bit by hand /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bravo, MR! It must feel liberating to finally sell a piece of equipment that sounds like has been dormant for quite some time. Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder, and I'm betting that the buyer is tickled pink that he's bought your tractor. Wonder what plans he has for it---dismantle, restore??

Congratulations on your sale MR. I wish I could say I have hooked up my last 3 point hitch impliment but I use my Agco Allis tractor too much to get rid of it and I have 5 impliments that are 3 point hitch, and several of them are a bear to attach.

The man came over Saturday afternoon and loaded her up. I let him leave the trailer in my drive for a few hours so he could drive up to another town to pick up some smaller parts. Attached is a picture.

To answer a few questions... I sold it to Bates Corp. They are a salvage yard that specializes in I.H. equipment. It will become an organ donor so that many, many more tractors can live. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif They will tear it down pretty quick, tag all the parts and put them in their inventory. They generally do not sell things like motors or HST trannies as whole units, just the parts to repair them. Many of the castings and such will be sold as scrap. Things like alternator, distributor and carb will be refurbished and sold. Neat place to do business with if you have an I.H. that you need to repair or restore.

As to what attachments I want next? Well, I will finish my grapple bucket before purchasing anything else. Then I have an old '85 Chevy 1/2 ton 4X4 that I need to pull the engine, tranny and transfer case from and scrap the carcass(that goes into my '71 Toyota Landcruiser). Then I'm thinking I like the Cadplans Model 821 Caddigger backhoe.. I've talked to the folks at Cadplans and the PT will be fine for powering it. I think that will be all, until I need a post hole digger. I'll pick up the plans over the winter and see how much steel will be locally or if it is cost effective to buy the pre-cut steel kit and have it shipped here. Anyhow, it should be a fun winter in the garage. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
