Hey folks. I haven't been here on the TBN boards in a while and its been even longer since I've gotten any seat time. Just wanted to pop in and let everyone know that I'm not dead (yet) because I know everyone has been worried sick about me!:D

Seriously, flu season hit here in SC with a vengance and I simply haven't had any time for tractoring or TBN. Fortunately I haven't caught the flu, like I did last year, and also fortunately it seems to be tapering off (which is why I have a minute to type this note!) just in time for spring plowing and planting. So I'm looking forward to a little less office work and a lot more tractor work.

I hope you folks have stayed well and avoided the flu. For those who caught the flu, you truly have my sympathy. It has been pretty severe here and folks have been really sick for 5-10 days, even with treatment.

Look forward to participating more in the forums in the near future.

So with spring approaching...what are ya'll's upcoming tractor plans?

Welcome back George, I was visiting one of your colleagues just yesterday with my flu. I was down from Friday evening through yesterday. Back at work today though I passed on the morning snowplowing opportunity.

Spring, let's see... that's when all the snow is gone, right? I think we have a while to keep planning up here!

Well, I'll have to admit that I may be looking forward a wee bit, but we have had a few days in the 70's here! But, this week it looks like back to normal with highs in the 40's.

Still, my plots are in terrible shape. I'm hoping to plow several times before I disk and plant.

Going to Winston-Salem in a few weeks, I hope, to pick up a 7' disk harrow directly from Leinbach so I'm itching to do this food plot stuff in a proper way. Turn it over a few times with the 2 bottom plow. Disk it a few times. Lime, fertilize and plant in April. Going to plant sunflowers with brown millet as well as a few plots of cowpeas which were a big success last year.

So yep, I'm looking forward a bit. Light at the end of the tunnel sort of thing.

Hope you continue to feel better.

Flu season ehh. :D :D :D

Yea I got it about mid December and it lasted forever. :( Throw in a little Diverticulitis, three hospital incarcerations with a bowel resection and all was not joy.:) :) :)

Of course one incarceration was not serious as the hospital boiler blew up about an hour before the scheduled surgery!:D :D :D

Hi George,

It's good to hear from you. Yes, that flu/crud is really hitting a lot of people. Several people in my office have been out with it. I had a touch of it, too. I don't see how you don't stay sick all the time from being around people...

That Leinbach place looks like it's pretty interesting. You better take more money than you expect, since the prices are good and you will see other things you may want. We all can advise you on how to spend the money...

By the way...don't forget the Palmetto Sportsman's Classic at the Fairgrounds. I will be manning the Weather Service booth this year...

Good Goly Egon, I didn't know you have had such a bad time. It's good you're back, too!

Yikes, Egon, that's awful. Makes the flu sound like a walk in the park.

Dave, I haven't been to the Classic in a few years. Might try to get down there this year. I'll look you up if I do.

I hope I don't go crazy at the Leinbach retail facility. I'm taking a 16' trailer so I could load it (and the credit card) up! I'm really going to try to stick with just getting the disk.

I think Leinbach makes decent stuff. Maybe not great but at least a little better than the KK type stuff. I think it will fit my needs and if you buy from them, the prices are pretty good.

While there, you might as well get a subsoiler and rake. I got the 7 foot size and like it. Subsoiler is a good deal. Their prices are good and even better if you go directly to them instead of another dealer, (middleman). Their stuff is better than KK. A real good value for the money. I think when you get the stuff and use it, you will be pleasantly surprised.

The Leinbach disks I've looked at have similar components on paper (same size tubing, axles, bearings, etc) as the KK stuff. However, the Leinbach welds look better, the paint is better, the fit anf finish look better, etc. So I agree that they make better stuff.

I have a subsoiler at my disposal as well as a 14" 2 bottom plow. But a rake would be real nice. And a post hole digger for when I build my shed and a............divorce lawyer.....
