Does anyone have any experience with the j-bar spider spd60 finish mower? I'm going to look at one this afternoon and just wondered if anyone had any opinions?

Thanks
Scot

I sold them a few years back. They were pretty rough around the edges back then. I went to Caroni. I never had a warranty claim. I used one myself for a couple years with good results. If you look at a Caroni ,check out the rear discharge. The clippings are dicharged much more even .

I have had the spider 6 foot for about 4 years. Had to replace 2 idler pullys, 2 belts. needed ten inch replacement wheel, called the factory, they sent me an 8 inch wheel. I called back they said they don't carry a ten inch wheel anymore, so I had to buy another 8 inch wheel at about 60$ a pop plus shipping and I had to jerry rig the wheel so it would fit the 10 inch axel
right now I need 2 spindles and spindle pullys, spindles are 130$ apiece but they have been out of them for over 12 WEEKS, but they will call me when they come in! ( the boat must have sank coming from ??)
The land I cut is kind of rough.
As for customer service they seem friendly but I dont think they care about their product

actually I just bought my third set of idler pully guides and third belt. Also I have had a terrible time with the belt covers (shields). the bolts will not hold the covers, I go to a larger sheet metal screw but it doesnt hold.
I mow about 3 acres 4 to 6 times a year on a hillside.

You are correct, i have been waiting on a call from Kenny the shop foreman from Jbar for over 10 months i think. He must have never come in like they said he would and then call me.

They are always nice, but either have no clue, like cant find the diagrams or there is no phone in the shop so "Kenny " cant call you. Finially i go someone on the phone a month or so ago about ordering a seal and getting a parts diagram, i got the right guy this about the 6th time i called cause in 15 mins i had the diagram emailed to me and the part ordered. Although it took a while as they did not put enough postage on it the first time. There customer service is horrible. The reason i wanted to talk to someone was to know what had to come apart to get the bottom seal out, no one would call back and the guy that helped me was going to have kenny call as i had pulled the whole pinion shaft out not knowing what i was doig and was going to ask about putting it back in. Guess what monday mourn kenny never called.

The bushog is not bad for the price well its good for the price, but i think i would buy somewhere else if your buying new. Heck i think HF is better at CS?
