Hey guys, new to the site so bear with me.I am trying to get running a J.D.750 that has been sitting outside for a few years.I freed up the engine, removed and cleaned the injectors, but here is the problem. The injector pump is gummed and froze up and I cannot remove it from the housing. The rack on the pump is stuck alway forward and will not allow it to clear the opening in the housing.I have soaked it for weeks, pryed on the rack, but it will not slide. The rack will rotate in place, but will not slide. Is the rack mechanicaly held in place or just stuck?Any experiance or ideas would be appreciated.

The rack just twists the pump's valving mechanisms when it slides back & forth. My guess is that, if the rack itself is free, that the threads on the individual valves are rusted or gummed up or something is wedged into one of the gears. I dont have a good suggestion on how to free them though.

Aaron,Thanks for the photo and the info. Now that I know the rack should slide,I might try to heat and bend a small pry bar at the correct angle and drive it in as a wedge between the rack and the housing. It just such a tight fit in there.

It worked!A bend, a few grinds on a HF pry bar and a few taps with a hammer and the rack moved enough to remove the injection pump.
