J. D. 850 2 wd 170hr. on meter

I'm a new member and I have a chance to buy this 850 2wd with 170 on the meter, no front loader but a very clean tractor.
The owner stated he is the 2nd owner but used it very little.
It was barn kept by the 2nd owner and looks it.
He's asking $6,000.00.
I in north Tx. there are JD dealers in the area but not friendly on the subject and no help.
Just need to know if it's a price.

I did a quick search on Iron Solutions. Prices range from $3500 to $8500. Most have over 1000 hours on them.
Looks like the seller priced his about in the middle.

<font color="blue"> machinerylink.com </font> gives used tractor prices (look toward the bottom of the page). But I think they vary a lot by region of the country. I picked a 1984 model and it gave $3700 - $4600. Will be a little higher or lower depending on year. 170 hours is very low, barely broke in. If you don't know the year model, find the serial number (on the back just above the PTO) and look on <font color="blue"> tractortips.com </font> to find when it was made.
For comparison, I bought a 1984 JD 950, 4 whl drive, FEL, PS, 2000 hours, good condition about 4 yrs ago for $8600.
