According to the wiring diagram, there is a white wire and black wire (ground) on one side of the solenoid. This "input" white wire comes from the fuel shutoff relay which is the thermistor side of the relay. There is one white wire going out of the solenoid is connected to the engine start and engine run relays, which I think is the 12v side??

My fuel solenoid has two white wires and one black wire. Which white wire do you short out to ground? Is it really to go to ground or to 12v? Just got a new thermistor, and will try to install that without damaging it. It looks like you have to remove the plastic housing around the fuse panel to gain access. Another project.

What is the part # for the thermistor? My 4300 is an early model.. i.e. old
Also have been trying to locate that part in the electrical schematics, but not finding it yet. Will continue to search.

Advice on the "shorting" out or bypassing of the thermistor would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just lift the wire going to it.

Have soldered up leads to a new thermistor. Ordered a new fuel solenoid, and thought it was a Yanmar part as the listing claimed. Turned out it's the generic replacement, for which there are many sellers. It has three wires, red, white, and black, and it appears to be the correct fit and plug connection. The OEM part has two white wires, and one black wire. On page 4-99 of JD 4300 manual they give the resistance values as 0.4, 12.4, and 12.0 ohms, and says replace solenoid if specifications not met. The replacement solenoid tests as 0.2, 28, and 28 ohms. Does anyone have a comment as to whether this may be a problem. I'm thinking it's a different internal coil, and so the resistance may not be the same as the OEM part. Comments would be appreciated.

Please explain what is meant by lift the wire. I just had the tractor in my garage. It took about 30 tries to get it started. The fuel solenoid has one red, one black, and one white wire, not what is shown in manual. I managed to get the fuse panel cover off, and loosened the fuse/relay bank. I couldn't get this piece really exposed because the harnesses hold it in tight. However, I was able to see behind it and cannot find the thermistor. I decided to reduce my heart rate, and put it back out in the enclosure. It stared right up. I shut it off, and tried restarting, not problem. It's a crap shoot. I have the thermistor ready to go, but don't where it is. It's not where some other forum members have shown, and I'm almost 100% certain it's not on the back of the fuel shutoff relay. Thanks for your help.
