Oil & Fuel J Deere 4300 starting issue

Although the fuel solenoid and thermister is a common problem, I think that a lot of 4x00
owners have completely non-op intake heaters. Easy to check this since the hot
terminal hangs out of the manifold and is easy to get to.

These early (Tier 1?) Yanmars start super-easy unless it is cold out. What some folks
experience in cold weather is a lot of cranking with no start. Then fuel bulids up in
the cylinders, increasing compression pressure, and it eventually starts. These DI
engines are low compression (18-19 to one), unlike your usual port-injected diesels
(22 to one or more).

Good thought being the battery.

I had the same problem with my 4400HST and went through the **** of replacing the $6 thermistor which solved the issue -- a LOT of 4xxx tractors have had thermistors go out -- search and you will find out about how to replace it (I added another 6 inches of pigtail and silconed the thermistor and an inch of its leads to a JD key fob and silconed it to the top of the fuse panel for easy replacement next time. IF this is the route that you take, the leads on the thermistor break off VERY easily. FWIW, it is behind the fuse panel inside a large bundle of wires. (I think I attached a picture of a thermistor)

My 4300 did this a few times this last summer after letting it set a few minutes it would start right up. So this morning my wife tried to start it up and it did it again. She plugged in the block heater and went out about 2 hours later and engine wouldn't even try and turn over. A friend of mine went over and found the headlights worked but the dash lights didn't. While checking the fuses he unplugged 30 amp fuse at the top and plugged it back in. As soon as he did that the lights came on and it started right up. Do you guys think the problems are associated or to separate problems. I am unable to find a lot of answers about fuses.

Sounds like either the fuse wasn't seated (holder might be wearing out) or a little corrosion.
