As of today, Jack's Small Engines where I buy quite a few parts was purchased by Northern Tool.
BTW I stared buying from Northern Hydraulics (now Northern Tool) when their catalog was a couple of xerox pages.

Well that is interesting. Since we are from MN, we've been to Northern Hydraulics, now Northern Tool many, many times. Still Hydraulics to me! :ROFLMAO:

Thanks for sharing. I have used Jack’s quite a bit for small engine parts.

Hope their website stays the same.

I lived in Burnsville Mn. when they built their big facility there.
Sometime in the 70's?

Big companies buying out small ones to reduce competition so later on, prices will skyrocket 🦨☄️

I wonder what the purchase price NT paid for Jack’s? If over $92 million NT had to file a Hart Scott Rodino to show the merger did not limit competition.

Jack’s was probably not worth $92 million plus.

Jacks has been an outstanding source for me with reasonable prices. let's hope NT can continue that integrity...we'll see

I can't predict what will happen to the "small engine parts" thing, but I will say, is that Northern became more and more like harbor freight, each year. :cautious: Still will stop in one when when we pass, but I will not stop at a HF to gawk.

Consolidation in the motorcycle accessory business has been on going for a few years now. There are only a few of the big guys now. Pricing varies only a little between websites/catalogues.

Not good for the consumer. However, it has been a benefit to local dealers as now their pricing is on par with the internet sites in a lot of cases.

Same thing is happening in the tractor/lawn and garden segment. It's just been a little slower to emerge.
