Have been looking at chippers and for the price range of about 1500 to 2000 thing these two look good. The Janma seems to have some issues with the drive shaft which concern me. The DC chipper seems to be popular, but a much lighter unit at about 200lbs v 800lbs for the Janma. I was told by the DC chipper folks that it only has one blade and makes chips of about the size of a nickle to a quarter.
Help with which one to buy would be great.

Slippy, I know a guy that has the Jinma chipper and he is pleased with it . He burns wood and chips all of the brush he creates.

Before I bought a Jinma 6 I read all the posts I could find on tbn and looked at a lot of the competition. Bang for buck, I just couldn't get away from the Jinma. Nothing on the market came close for the money so I swallowed my reservations and bought one. I did so knowing I might have to carry out some or all of the alterations this and other forums have identified as possible design issues.

The chipper has been running for days on end, fed some by me but mostly by a logger who has been working on my place for a few weeks. He was sceptical of the chipper when he first knew it was chinese. He's used to home built stuff. He's an experienced woodsman who has worked with different makes and he has completely come around, admitting the Jinma is tremendous value for money and gobbles everything thrown at it.

Based on previous threads, quality seems to vary with these machines and some appear to have given some buyers little but trouble. Because of this, I think it's important to properly carry out the commissioning service thoroughly and to be prepared to make some mechanical changes if some of the known problems arise. I check the machine each morning before use, grease the bearings that should be greased, before the logger puts it through it's paces. So far, we've not had any issues and I feel my decision to buy the Jinma has been vindicated. Even if at some future date I have to carry out those changes, I'll not be sorry I bought the Jinma.
