I've had success with cutting the trunk or stem of the plant and spraying round-up on the cut. Do this in the afternoon when the plant is drawing fluids down into its roots. Yes it is slow and low tech but one person cutting and being followed by the spray person moves right along. I have used it for wild grapevines and girdled beech trees. Before I figured this out I tried uprooting the grapevines, pruning, cutting in half, chainsawing, used the FEL like a bulldozer, etc.. The harder I tried the more it seemed to just encourage the plant.
I did not want to use herbicides either as I figured that by spraying the plants I would get a fair amount of spray on myself or breath it. by just squirting the stems there is no problem with doing any harm except to the plant you need gone. :dance1:
