That Cat plant is being built about 6 miles from my Farm...good news ...I would think it will help property values...

Nice interview. Non-union Georgia labor probably paid less than Cat would pay workers in Japan. I wonder why they didn't go to China? None of the reasons given would preclude using dirt cheap Chinese workers. Certainly not shipping.

They already are. Cat has been in China for many years.Cat gets huge incentives from the current administration to insource jobs.

What incentives?

Cat has been producing more here over the last 15 years or so. Both them and Deere have been expanding US production. Both claim they are sick of dealing with overseas exchange rates and labor.

Cat and Deere also both have plants in China due to avoid the hude tariffs China has on imported equipment. So much for "free trade".

Love to see real, living wage jobs developed here in the USA! We tried to get that plant here in Illinois, but due to the states current last place in the nation financials CAT said, Thanks, but no thanks.......... . Like about everybody else we have a whole bunch of very well trained and eager plant personnel looking for a time clock.

Hopefully the future will see more companies taking the lead from Cat, Deere, and others, figuring out that it makes more sense to build extremely well made equipment right here.

That's easy. Cat is exploiting the fact that skilled US workers desperate for work, will accept jobs at virtually minimum wage. The US is quickly becoming the next cheap labour market for North America.

Cat pulls plug in London
