JCB 1400B FUEL TANK OUTLET PIPE SIZE AND THREAD

I would like to put a fuel shut off valve right below the fuel tank on my jcb 1400b backhoe. Real pain to clean sediment bowl and change fuel filter with no way to shut the fuel off. If you know what size the pipe and what thread is used on the pipe I can add a female to male inline cut off valve just below the tank. Thanks please help!!!

I don't know the JCB specifically, but would expect it to use BSPT thread rather than the US style NPT.

Difference is slight; the BSPT is 55 degrees vs US 60 deg. They are same thread per inch, so will begin to thread but never fully and will always leak.

The trick is to use a BSPT to NPT adapter nut and then you can use any of a range of US made fuel valves. Adapter nuts are available at some hardware stores, or at lots of automotive stores since most Japanese cars use BSPT for threads into the motor block. Probably also at Mcmaster-Carr.
