Does anyone know of a direct replacement for the J.D. 1050 engine. It came with the yanmar 3T90T-j engine. I would like to find something that has a parts supply that would bolt right in.
I'm not too familiar with the Yanmar engine for this compact tractor, but there are two major considerations when looking for a replacement engine.
First, the SAE Bell Housing designation needs to be known. This is a number ranging from SAE 0 to SAE 6, depending on the application. This is either stamped on the engine or the clutch housing, or can be deduced from the dimensions of the housing. Both the old engine and the replacement engine needs to be the same SAE specifications. This way, they can be bolted onto the transmission.
Secondly, the size of the engine, and locations of the attachments like the alternator and starter. Can the new engine fit?
I know of a customer who removed an Iveco engine and replaced it with a Perkins, following these recommendations.
