JD 1050 Help

I just purchased a 1985 JD 1050 MFWD and need some advice. I need new fenders and a hood and have tried all the conventional salvage yards on the computer. Any other places to go would be of great help. Also, I suspect the MFWD is not working. Would the first place to go be to take off the shift lever and cover and look at the fork and coupler or take the boot off the front driveshaft and see if it turns when engaged? Again any help is appreciated. I can handle all the work myself but need to know where to start.

I have a '84 950. I have searched the web a number of times looking for salvaged x50s. Have e-mailed several tractor salvage places. None to be found. On rare occasion, you will see some x50 various parts or possibly a complete parts tractor on ebay. There was a 950 with a bad engine there just recently.
As far as the MFWD. Before I started tearing it apart, I would find some wet ground, connect a chain from the draw bar to a tree, put it in 4WD in lowest gear, and see if the front tires start to spin. If they don't, then start tearing it apart.
