Has anyone removed the ROPS/Canopy on their machine? Does it come off easily after you unbolt it and discconect the wires? Did you lift off by hand or with a sling?

I removed my rops and canopy back in 2005 to install the Laurin cab. Not too difficult for two men to do.

Curious why you need to remove it?

Want to put it in the barn for the winter but door is only 8 ft high. The ROPS extends down into the frame. Wondering if it was a tight fit. My number 1 project for next year is to build a shop with 12 X 12 doors in it. You say you put a cab on yours. How do you like it? Was it difficult? How much was the cab? Does back window open up for backhoe work?

I have the Laurin eclipse cab on mine andreally like it. No regrets so far will have had it for eight years this coming Feb. Not to difficult to install, took a full day to remove the existing rops and install the cab complete. I paid $7500 for the cab IIRC back in 2005. The rear glass is removable and has a place to store in the cab. I have only removed it on a couple of occasions where the sum was shining in my face and I was against a house wall in the shade. Just couldn't see well enough to dig safely. For the vast majority of my work there is no need to open or remove the rear window to use the hoe. The cab is very spacious but noisy compared to my 4520 but is just as comfortable imo. You can take the backhoe and rear glass section off just as you can remove the backhoe you have now. The rear glass can then be put on the main cab to complete the enclosure. Good versatile set up I think. The Laurin cab is the same height as the existing rops you have now, so I recommend the tall doors.

Thanks for the info. I am havin difficulty getting the front bolt on each side of the rear ROPS removed. Little access. Can only get a wrench on it. Can't get leverage on it. Will use a pipe tomorrow!!! How did you get them loose? Sending you a pm.

Don't remember the specifics on removing the bolts for the rops but I do have a good set of large tools. My 110 was brand new at the time so the bolts were not frozen up.

Romoved a metal support and was able to get socket on the two bolts. Got them out. ROPS is off and 110 in my barn for winter.

I bet it does, mine will not fit in my buildings and would like to come up a system to take the ROPS and canape off easy. Or build a new building :laughing:

Naked JD 110!!!! Not difficult to take off but not easy either. Reccomend that you build a new building or least one with a 10ft high door. I will be building one this next summer.

Where is the wiring for the lights run? Is the wiring on one connector?

The wiring runs inside the ROPS post on right rear(as you sit on tractor). There are 3 quick disconnects for the wiring on right rear of tractor just a head of the rear axle. Per murphy's law the connectors will catch on things as you pull the ROPS/canopy up & off. The bolts on the rear ROPS were rusted and needed lots of PB blaster. Getting a socket on them and leverage was a chore too. That's why I recommend building a shop with 10 ft high doors or put a 10 ft high door in if you have a building already.

I think I will build or add on, but same as you not this year. I can not make my doors any higher due to a second floor. I would like to be able get the tractor inside so I have a nice warm spot to do any work or clean up to the tractor and get it out of the weather.

I understand totally. ROPS / canopy is heavy. Need 3 good men. I used a strap to lift it off!!!! Good luck!!!
