Had a problem. It's an old machine. A hand-me-down from my in-laws. A bazillion hours and a million miles. Went to the local jd gt dealer. Fifteen minutes later I'm down the road with the parts I needed. Tonight I made the repairs, greased everything possible, pulled the battery, and put it to bed for the winter. Dreaming of another summer in the sun.

Now, my brother has my parents old Bolens Husky H16 and a bunch of implements. The hydro is shot, and no parts to be found. The motor is destined to power the log splitter I plan on building this winter.

John Deere makes good products

Hi, Yahoo has two Bolens groups with people that seem to know alot about bolens and still seem to have a supply of parts. You may want to check into, unless you are set to build a log splitter. Just my 2 cents good luck with your winter project. I too now own a John Deere lawn tractor and you are right it is a good product.

Good Luck

Doug

Some of those Bolens postings appear old. I've looked for parts, but no luck. Even if parts could be found, how much should a person spend on a 28 year old garden tractor. Pulled the head on the motor and all the internals check out fine. Still, I'm torn about putting such an old motor in a new project. But its free, and a battery start means no pulling. That Bolens tractor was great in it's day.
