JD 1250 tachometer and hourmeter not working

I recently purchased a 1250 the tachometer and the hour-meter are not working. Can someone tell me what to look for and how to access it?

Does the alternator work? My 4600 tach. and hr meter stop when the alternator went bad.

Check for a broken tach cable.

Does one cable do both? It occurred to me that the previous owner may have disconnected the hour-meter.

Does one cable do both?

Yes both tach & hr meter operate from cable. CH16584 CABLE
