I have a John Deere 145 Automatic 100 Series with a 22 hp Briggs and Stratton with 65 hours on the clock purchased new in 2005 from our local JD dealer. The problem is that the original battery goes practically dead enough not to start on the following lawn cutting, usually once a week or so during the growing season. A five or ten minute charge fires it up with no other issues noted. If I have to shut it off during a mow it will fire right back up again. It does get quite a bit of corrosion powder build up on both poles, the positive pole creates more and there is always a surface film of acid on the top of the battery. I have on several occassions removed the original battery and +- cables for thorough cleaning only to experience the same thing again a few weeks later. Any ideas as to what causes this?
