Good morning..... This is my 14T baler.... I've had it for about 4 years and tweaking on it to keep it working very well.....
Replacing parts as needed.... The knotters are last on my list due to my ignorance and lack of parts available...
I'm ready to tackle the "Twine Disc" timing issue seen below... It still ties bales just fine.... Others have said, "Leave it alone if it works"....
From reading in the operators manual, it seems a fairly simple task to move spacers from one end of the"Knotter Disc Pinion Shaft" to the other which adjusts the timing of the disc notch.... I hope I have the terms correct... The manual is a bit confusing...

From the back of the baler.... the left and right knotters.....
the left knotter seems correct... the right knotter is out of time...

From the description in the manual, the worm shaft (below) needs the washers relocated from the top end
to the lower end.... (as the picture is situated)... thus lowering the shaft and adjusting the timing as the book
describes..... Or something like that.....

Have any of you done this ?? I'm interested in knowing how, what tools to use to remove the gears etc.... I am assuming there are
roll pins or something similar that need to be removed to remove the gears and shaft.... swap the washers.... reinstall.... That sounds way to simple to me, but that's about what it looks like from this end.....

Any help is appreciated...

Dave

If you elect to change the twine disk setting I'll bet you're fixing to learn the TRUE meaning of the old saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it"!!!!

Tx Jim, evening........ Yeah, you are probably right.... But, seeing it is out of time, just keeps poking me in the ribs... "fix it you dummy" is what I keep hearing.... Trying to keep the old girl running the way it was designed is probably "haunting" me... I guess fixing stuff as it comes up, to keep stuff in "designed" order, hopefully reduces the problems in the future... At least I can learn "ONE" thing at a time without pulling my hair out.... maybe...... I hope I don't regret it.... These knotter mechanisms were probably designed by some farmer, 3rd Grade education, by candle light, sitting next to Abe Lincoln, in a log cabin looking out at the most beautiful prairie grass in the world... Saying, "Someday, someone is gonna want to bale that stuff and I have an idea !!!!".... Whomever he/she was, the concept is still in use today and I appreciate it and want/need to learn more...

"Hard Headed" Dave....... :mur:
