I have a 1973ish JD 2130. The hydraulic system can't support both keeping an implement lifted and using the rear remote for hydraulic cylinder use. I use this tractor to operate a tree shaker. When I start the tractor the 3-pt lifts the implement fairly quickly and holds it in the up position. However, when I back up to a tree to clamp it I crank up the RPMs then start closing the clamp on the tree using a hydraulic cylinder attached to the rear remote. As I am doing this, I see the 3-pt starting to lower. So, I have to stop the clamping action to let the 3-pt catch back up, which it does quickly. Then, once clamped, I have to drop the RPMs to engage the PTO to operate the shaker. If I don't do this is a highly coordinated way, I lose the clamp and that's not a fun thing.

So, after all that said, what could be causing this to happen? Pump going bad? Screens dirty? Filter dirty? Something else?

Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

How long since hyd filter was changed & sump screen(key 30) was checked/cleaned? Also check to be sure filter relief valve(keys 18-20) isn't stuck open. Does shaker tree clamp cylinder control valve have a closed-center plug installed or is it controlled by tractor scv? Also 3 pt control &/or piston seals are leaking because rockshaft should stay where it's set once that height is reached/ Is L/D lever under seat set in "D" or "minimum"?

Thanks Tx Jim. I just bought this tractor recently so I don稚 know when the filter was changed or screen cleaned but that will be done today. I will also check The filter relief valve as you suggest. The clamp is controlled by tractor service. Would the 3-pt control and/or piston seals leaking be an external or internal leak? Is it a leak I would see when looking at the 3-pt? I will check the L/D lever today as well.

Thank you very much for all of your recommendations. They certainly give me some direction on where to start.

Rockshaft leak I referred to would be internal. With hyd oil at operating temp with 3 pt raised engine running look inside open hyd filler hole behind seat for moving/spraying oil which would indicate leaks I referred to.
