Hello, I have a JD 2210 Compact Tractor that was running fine one moment, and than minutes later would not start. Here are the symptoms:
1) No start with PTO not engaged, transmission in neutral, while sitting in the seat.
2) No click with ignition in "on" and "start" positions. The starter does not engage.
3) Very dim oil pressure dash light when the ignition is in the "on" position.
4) No battery dash light when the ignition is in the "on" position.
5) When the ignition is in the "start" position the dim oil pressure lights dims more, and the fuel gauge drops lower.
6) Headlights, tail lights and turn signals do not work.
I've checked the following:
a) Battery voltage ~12.7 terminal-to-terminal, cable-to-cable, negative terminal-to-positive cable, etc. at the battery.
b) Voltage at the starter connection is 12.7 volts.
c) The ground cable was torqued all the way, and still loose, so I swapped out the ground cable.
d) Cleaned the battery terminals.
e) Tested the seat safety switch, and it passed.
f) Checked the fuses (5A, 10A, 10A, 15A), and all passed. I removed and cleaned the fuses to make sure dirt did not compromise the connection. All good!
Any suggestions on what to check? For grins and giggles I was going to change the positive power cable since the battery is good, but tractor does not appear to acknowledge this. It's a 19 year old wanna be tractor that lives outside, so any new parts can't hurt.
I don't have an accurate schematic for the electrical system, and surprisingly posts on the Internet are limited for this old tractor. Does anyone have recommendations on how to confirm the ignition switch, voltage regulator, starter, solenoid, etc. are working properly?
Thank you in advance for your time and expertise in helping me get the tractor running again so I can cut down the field and black berry bushes which I can almost see them GROW realtime!
