First, I am new to this site, so my apologies if I am not posting in the correct place. I have a 1972 JD 2630. I was bush-hogging field when tractor sputtered. Fuel was low, so I put several gallons in. Engine would fire and idle 30 seconds or so, but would not accelerate. Having looked thru threads, I attempted to prime system with primer pump on fuel transfer pump. Pushing the primer lever didn't seem to be doing anything, so I disconnected outgoing fuel line and pumped, to see if fuel was actually moving. I got an occasional squirt of fuel. I believed the pump was bad, and replaced it and filter. Lines are clear, but still not running. Also, primer lever doesn't feel like it is pumping again. I went to the injector pump and removed input line, and cranked engine to verify fuel....nothing happening. :confused3: Suggestions?

Cam lobe that operates fuel transfer(lift) pump must be away from from transfer pump for manual lever to operate transfer pump. Do you have good fuel flow(pencil size) from fuel tank? Remove fuel return line from fitting(parts key #15) on inj pump. Start engine and see if fuel will squirt out of the fitting.

Another possibility if you did not run it out of fuel, is the fuel filter may be plugged.

Are you saying you replaced the primer pump? I know a couple months ago when I changed the fuel filter on my 2155 the primer pump appeared to not work no matter what position the cam was in. I removed primer pump and found out the lever that rides against the cam came loose and was just laying in there between cam and primer pump. A new primer pump took care of mine.
