I have a 2720 as well. There is no separate adjustment for the parking brake. The key to having the parking brake work is to have the brake pedals properly adjusted. You first need to flip the little lever to decouple the two pedals. The parking lever is only connected to one pedal (don't remember which one) and if that pedal is out of adjustment you won't have good parking brakes. After you decouple the pedals, under the tractor there is a long rod and turnbuckle running to the back from each pedal. You need to adjust each turnbuckle so the corresponding pedal has 30-36mm of free travel when applying 11lb of force to the pedal. When properly adjusted the free play between the two pedals should be within 2mm of each other.

Thanks for the reply and write up. Will work on it and reply back.

There seems to be a difference between the Euro model 2720 and the American 2720.. Euro had a hand lever for a park brake, and the Amer. has a lever lock to hold the brake pedals engaged when both are locked together.

Here is the Amer. directions from the oper. manual. But agree that the brakes should be equally adjusted.. there are turn buckles per jdparts. Maybe the foot deck or covers under the seat need to come off?

No idea why JD didn't just install the Euro system on the U.S. tractors as well. It is a superior setup. They did finally go with the Euro system on the Gen-2 2032R/2038R.

The deck covers do not need to be removed. All adjustments can be made from underneath.

Note for the OP... if the turnbuckles have never been adjusted the lock nuts can be VERY tight. Make sure you use good well-fitting wrenches.

Yeh, looks like it they have never been adjusted and I need to take off the panels to get to them for better clearance. Maybe next weekend when I have more time. :(

I've adjusted mine on several occasions without taking the deck panels off. But I'm sure having them off will give a bit better access.
