I have an older 300b that I am having hydraulic problems with. last time I went to dig out beaver dams I noticed lots of hydraulic oil coming out underneath at the hydraulic filter. when parked all of the hydraulic functions worked as should. I pulled the filter and the o-ring had been put on wrong last time and had blown out. went back a few weeks later and I got a new filter and o-ring and put it in. added 9 gallons of hydraulic oil behind the seat. now I have almost no hydraulic function. I can lower and lift the stabilizers very slowly but if I stand on it, it won't lift me up. I have let it run for about 20-30 min with no improvements. is there anything else to priming the hydraulic system? thanks for the help.

Poor hyd operation on a JD utility tractor with the closed center hyd system can be caused by many things. 1st thing to do is check to be sure frt pump shaft is turning when engine CS turns. Next if not recently changed change hyd filter & check/clean trans oil suction screen(Key 30), Next be sure filter relief valve(keys 18-20) isn't stuck open. Next is check hyd stand-by pressure which should be 2250 psi.

Thanks for the input. I've cleaned the screen and changed the filter already. I'll check the relief valve & pump shaft rotation.

Best I remember just after the hydraulic filter there is a short probably 3 long 1.5 diameter hose just before the transmission screen that had collapsed internally and was blocking the flow. I replaced it and also cleaned the transmission screen right beside it and it started working good again.
