jd 3020 Hard Starting Need help!!

I have 65 jd 3020 gas and have replaced distributor, cap, rotor, condenser, plugs, wires, points to no avail.......It wants to fire when ya fisrt try startn it but if ya don't get it to go then you either pull it or wait an hr or so......Really at wits end any thoughts or advives much needed!!!!

Maybe fuel related issue.. as long as you have spark given that you have replaced most everything related to spark.
I'd stop with the ether, tho.

Look into the carb and the fuel lines from tank to carb.

Assume you know that it has good compression.

Have you considered changing to electronic ignition in lieu of points?

I agree, it's likely a problem with the carb.
