Tractor
JD 3120
Hi gang, I have been checking out the place for quite a while and just joined tonight. I was hoping to have the tractor by this weekend but they are still waiting on the BH. I asked the dealer when I went to buy it about the upgraded cruise with the accel and decel feature and the speedmatch and he told me that it wasn't available but going by the owners manual it seems like it should have been an option. I am hoping I made the right choice with the tractor, I originally was going to get a 4010 but was worried I would regret it later, so I opted for the 3120. I think it should do perfect, we have 5.25 acres of all grass, well sorta LOL. The front feild needs to be tilled and reseeded because it is overgrown with weeds from the previous owner not taking care of it. Anyway any help with the info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

It should be available. From the John Deere web site under Build Your 3120:

<font color="blue"> Automotive Cruise/Motion Match Upgrade
Includes Automotive Style Cruise, SpeedMatch and MotionMatch Switch. LVB25548 $86.00
</font>

Give the dealer the part number and ask him to double check.

Jeff

I should have added that this is a dealer installed option so even though your tractor is already in, you can still have the dealer install it.

Hi Mike,
I will keep ya posted. I keep having second thoughts on whether I have made the right decision or not. I keep wondering if I shouldn't have gone for the CX loader or the 448 backhoe, but then I take time to think if I will ever really need that much and I really shouldn't, besides the $29,000 price tag with tax is scary enough....LOL. I was going to go with a 72" RFM but I figure with the 60" I will be able to manuver a little better around the house, plus when I do mow the feild I should be able to go a little faster and hopefully makeup a little for the 1ft difference. I am going to call the dealer monday to get him to put the cruise with speedmatch on it, I also thought about getting the telescoping draft links and the third selective control valve. I was hoping to have the tractor by this weekend but the BH isn't in yet.

Can you give us any more info on why you went with the 447 BH over the 48? I've got a 4310, and have been waiting to get the cash together for a backhow the last couple of years. Right now I'm leaning towards the 447 as it seems adequate for my needs (reach, depth), and the 448 really seems like a huge hoe for this little tractor. Can you give us your impressions having just gone through the decision of 447 vs 448?

I would like to have the CX loader and the 448 BH but the more I thought about it both the C loader and the 447BH will do what I need and it would also save some money, but then when ya look at spending all but 30 grand whats 1 to 2 thousand more LOL. I don't think the 448 hoe would be too much for the 3020 series. I guess my main deciding factor is why spend the money on the 48 when the 47 will do, especially considering I was originally looking at the 4115 with the 46 hoe. I am also glad I got the 3120 because of the engine being the same displacement as the 3720 which means power upgrade if needed will be easy although it may be a little pricey, and it is nice knowing the tractor itself will handle the power or deere wouldn't have made it. I plan on tilling and box blading the entire property to smooth it all out and plant new grass seed but that will be either a fall or next year project depending on the budget....LOL

Can you post some pics of the 447 hoe on your 3120 when you get it. I'm very much interested in clearance with the hoe attached, how open the hoe's platform is, clearance, etc.

Many thanks.

Hey Mike,
Well I can't give ya a report on how the tractor works yet, the backhoe finally came in today and they are delivering it on friday at 3pm. I stopped there on the way home today and they had the FEL all setup, the tractor was outside and the FEL was in the shop, that FEL looks really impressive just sitting there even without the bucket on. The backhoe was still on the skid it came in on and they are going to start mounting that up tomorrow. When I ran heavy equipment in construction I used to love JD hoes, they have the best hydraulic systems when it comes to the bigger hoes, with the JD's we had you could do everything at once, curl up, lift, swing, extend, and dump all at the same time, we also had alot of case hoes and they sucked....LOL I am hoping the JD hydraulics show in the smaller tractors as well.

Hey Mike, I wish I had your patience. These last three weeks have been killing me LOL. I guess it doesn't help that the grass is over a foot tall either. I will take lots of pics on friday and post em right away.

Well I finally got it. I'm not happy with the dealers customer service but I will get into that when I have more time. I will take pics tomorrow and post em up right away. One thing I already noticed after they delivered it is there are a few small dents on the hood, looks like hail damage, going to say something to the dealer tomorrow about it. Other then that the tractor kicks butt. The backhoe platform has a good bit of room, and goes on and off in like 3 minutes, the part that takes time is putting the draft links and center link on and off to switch back to the mower. FEL comes off in like 2 minutes, definately a nice setup there. I got the 60" RFM and I mowed for bout a half hour and now I kinda wish I would have gotten the 72" the grass is like a foot tall in alot of spots now and I was zipping right along at 3mph without the tract or the deck even twitching. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

George, congrats on your JD 3120.
I just got my 3320 last week with 300cx loader and 448 backhoe. I have 9 hours on it during the week and one job was digging a 5 foot deep hole by 7 wide and 20 feet long. I used the hole to bury one of those thorny crabapple trees. The loader and backhoe worked flawless.
Since I just got mine, I thought I would sign up a and post. Good luck and enjoy.

Al

Hi Al,
Sounds great, I would have liked to have gotten the 448 and the CX but I already had a hard time swallowing the price tag....LOL that and I think the X and the 447 should do everything I need it to do. I got the tractor friday night about 6pm and till the guy got done showing me everything and I started mowing it was all but 8pm, I have 9.2 hours on it already, amazing how fast time goes by when ur having fun.....er I mean working LOL

Hey Mike,
Thats sucks they changed the financing. Hopefully you will have the tractor in no time at all. I finally had time now I can post some pics, I will see if I can attach them and if not I will put em on my site and link to em.

Here is a pic of our front yard and my pete sitting hooked up for the next mornings run.

I have two pics of me running the BH, I was getting started digging a level spot to build a new burn pit, we took decoritive blocks that the old owners had sitting elswhere and made a nice round containment for burning. Don't mind the chubby goofball on the tractor...LOL

Oh ya, just ignore the top of my rops missing, with it on I have to fold it down to get it in the garage and it has to rest against the hoe guard, and since I keep the hoe parked in the garage it just makes it a pain in the booty to have it one there, I am going to have a 10' door on the shed once it gets built for the tractor, then I will put it back on.

Hey NUTNDUN,

I noticed what looks like 'hail damage' in my new 3520 hood as well. I asked the dealer about it and he said it can't be hail damage since it is a plastic hood. I'm guessing manufacture defect? I pretty much dropped the issue because I needed to get it home and get to work.
