JD 3520
Thought the tractor decison was the hard part! Anyway, thinking of getting a JD 3120 and uses will be moving snow (bucket and blade), grading our gravel driveway and perhaps scraping some dirt around to sorta make a small remote control car track.

Anyway...primary use is snow and gravel. Dealer was selling me on Land Pride vs King Cutter. Tractor doesn't currently have any rear hydraulics, so adjust by hand unless I add them.

Question is how big and which model???

I was thinking 5' so I don't lose traction, but someone mentioned I need 6' so cover my tire width when angled. Then there is the issue of can I turn the blade around without having to take it off issue I've seen in a couple threads. Dealer said the LP can be offset, tilted, angled, etc so pretty versatile it sounds. Dunno though cuz never owned one.

Tractor has 210 lbs wheel weights on both sides and I'm thinking of getting beet juice in the oversized R4 tires. Has a loader on the front.

Should I get rear hydraulics added?

Suggestions are welcome!

Thanks.
Dave

Dmac,

I can't imagine ever regretting rear hydraulics. If you can afford it...get three! When using rear attachments, rear hydraulics allow you to get work done faster and make working with rear attachments much easier.

Realistically, it saves you time because you're more likely to circle around an area than to get off change the blade angle.

I use a 5' blade on my 30hp JD4400...and it is really too small. Get the 6'.

I second the vote for the 6' blade and as many rear remotes as you can afford. I would also recommend that you consider a Quick Hitch.

I use a Landpride RB3572 rear blade on my 33hp New Holland. I definately wouldn't want anything smaller.

I have a 3120, and a Woods RB72 6' rake. It's the right size, and you can swing it around backwards with out issue (I have turf tires, don't know if other tires will negate this).

If you decide to get a rear blade that has hydraulics for the offset, angle and tilt I think that the Land Pride RBT35 series is the only one available that fits a cat 1 hitch. They are a very nice setup, but very costly also. They are available with 72", 84" and 96" blades. I believe that all the other manufacturers that offer a fully hydraulic operated blade have them for cat 2 or bigger only.

I also recommend as many rear remotes that you can afford, 4 or 5 is ideal. 2 for "TnT" and 2-3 for hydraulics on the rear blade. you don't really need 5, only 4 because with "TnT" you won't need the tilt hydraulic with the rear blade. But then you could get the gauge wheels with a hydraulic and you would need that 5Th remote. :D Oh, if you don't get the gauge wheels, be sure to get the skid shoes, they can really help out.

Please keep us informed on your decisions. ;)

Decisions....decisions....

So we get to the dealer and they now had a demo'd JD3520 with ag tires which was really the tractor I wanted and the tires too for traction. The 3120 was also a demo and cheaper (both come with warranty as new), but I thought we'd best get as much power as possible since we're at 6500'. I'd tried to get a repo'd 3720 a week or so ago but got outbid. So, after much decision and dickering on price, we spent the extra $ on the tractor and settled on a Land Pride RB3572. No rear hydraulics. May add the skids later...had them in the price but once we got a couple hundred apart, he finally said ok...but no skids.

Thanks so much for the advice guys! Via that, I had some idea what I was after.
