jd 322 wont charge

need some help with this one. my 322 wont charge the battery. here is what I have done. first I had to charge the battery with my charger. I can run it mowing for a while, sometimes longer, sometimes not. the alternator is putting out around 30 vac or more. I changed the voltage regulator and its putting out what it is suppose to. that is with the red battery lead not connected. connect the red lead from the regulator to the red on the starter where my drawing says it should go and the voltage reads what the battery voltage is. not the 13 or 14 volts it should. I also did away with the connector going to the regulator and straight wired to the regulator with terminals. not real sure what to do next.

So, what is the battery voltage measured at the battery terminals after you charge it with your charger?? What is the battery voltage measured at the battery terminals with everything hooked up and the tractor running??

depending on the state of charge, meaning,wherever the battery voltage is at that particular time with it running, it will be the same when turned off.

finally read the manual a little closer. got out my clamp on ammeter out and there is no current out of the alternator. on order.
