Simple question. I am about to receive an '04 JD 332 skid-steer, and am wondering if I will be able to operate a log splitter from outside the cab, like I've seen Bobcats set up to do. Yes? No? I know I'll need a valve, etc, just don't know if I can get pressure to the aux line if my butt is not in the seat. (I will be embarrassed beyond measure if I already asked this here....) Thanks. j

Couple of things to know about the skid-steer and the log-splitter. What type of hydraulic's are present in each?
Does the skid-steer provide "open-center" hydraulics? Does the log-splitter require an "open-center" hydraulic system to operate?
My log-splitter ran from the 3pt on my tractor and worked off the "open-center" hydraulic system available at the power-beyond circuit used for the back-hoe attachment.
Of course, there's the niggling details regarding the type of hydraulic couplers' as well. But, first you need to determine what system of hydraulic funtion is needed (log-splitter) and available (skid-steer).
Open-center or closed center hydraulic system. Your owner's manual for the SSL and the log-splitter should give you a good idea as well as possible locations on the web to gather more complete info if necessary.

The TSC type (Speeco) splitters come with the conversion kit for open or closed center systems--I think that they are usually shipped set-up for open center.
AK and B8: Thanks for the leads. I don't have the loader yet, so I can't look that up, but now I know what to ask. All I know so far is that it does have auxiliary hydraulics, and I have seen Bobcats running splitters from outside the cab. I will build the log splitter as soon as I find out what all I need. Thanks again for the replies; I am steered better now.
