Hi.

First of all, I'm happy to have joined the site. I've been lurking for a while but figured it was about time to make my presence known.

I have a question for anyone who knows or owns a JD #34 manure spreader and/or its operator's manual.

What is the recommended minimum horsepower to operate it?

I see that there is one at an upcoming auction and am considering bidding on it, but want to make sure that my tractor is powerful enough for it. I would assume that it is (50 horsepower JD 70 diesel), but I really don't know much about the requirements of manure spreaders in general, let alone this one.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Your 70 should handle it fine. We used to haul ours around with an Oliver 77 or Cockshutt 550.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think it would be a problem but it's better to make sure now than find out when I've got a problem.
