JD 3720 VS JD 4120

Anyone been on both of these machines and can compare.

We have a 10-acre place where we will be tilling an arena, moving dirt, manure spreading, cutting alfalfa, maybe baling, backhoe, loader, lifting 700# bales of hay - maybe 1tons.

I'm not sure the 990 will work but open to all feedback.

Must have attachments? We live in Colorado and it does get cold - so block heater is a must. But loader size, etc..

I really like my 4520 better than my 3720. I have not driven a 4120, but feel many pluses would be the same between machines. I really do not need a 4520, and if there is one downside, it is the size itself. Although a very manuverable machine itself, the 4520 is quite a bit larger than the 3720. That can be both good and bad. I find the larger frame more stable for loader work and with heavier attachments, and I think it rides better. But, the 3720 was easier to fit in smaller places and easier to see around. Both would have plenty of power for your jobs, but the 3720 may have the edge there if you do a lot of hill work. To me, the biggest issue would be where do you need the machine to fit. If the large frame goes where you need it, I would go with that; if the mid frame does better, then it would be a better option. The best practice would be to see if the dealer would bring them to your property to see how each manuvers and go from there. Engine wise, the Yanmar is excellent; but the John Deere engine has been very good so far too. The larger HP PowerTech's seem to have more torque than even the turbo Yanmar's but this might not be the case in the 4120.
