JD 4000 Series Mid PTO

Does JD make a cover for the mid PTO on the 4000 series tractors? What is the part number? Before I bush hog anything, I want to have my mid pto covered. I have seen two Kubotas used for cutting in tree fields ruin their mid pto from high grass getting tangled around the pto.

I think the tangling problem is because the mid-PTO is turning. Since the JDs PTOs are independant from each other (you can run just the rear PTO without running the mid PTO,) I don't think this is an issue. But I can't answer your actual question.

I have a cover for mine. The dealer should have the part number.

My 4115 came with a Mid PTO cover. Sorry I don't have the part number but, as stated, the dealer should. I don't know if all 4000 series covers are the same.

I wonder if Deere makes one for the rear PTO. It's really not necessary but with all the dirt and debris from some of the mower and BH work, and from snow and slush in the winter, I've considered trying to find one. If I run across a part number for either, I'll post.

Not sure, as I said, that all 4000 series mid PTO covers are the same but, Deere parts for 4115 came up with:

"Cover, Mid PTO Shaft", p/n: AM875151.

Check with your dealer to be sure though. Good luck.

I'm wondering if my 4010 mid PTO isn't covered. I haven't found it yet. I've run it briefly a couple of times to lubricate the seal, especially after hearing about the 4110 that sprung a leak there.
