How do you drain the water in the separator without removing the whole filter??
On the JD 4 Series, there is a primary fuel / water separator filter. To drain the water, the procedure is to turn off the fuel valve and open the cockpit to drain the water. This doesn’t work for the obvious reason that as soon as you turn off the valve, you create an air lock, therefore it can’t drain.
So, with the cockpit open, you can open or leave open the fuel valve and the fuel drains and drains and drains, until you decide that you have drained the water and lots of fuel. Of course you don’t do that either.
In the previous 4 Series the fuel separator and drain worked great. What’s the deal with this new design? I’m confused.
