I will be mowing about 3-4 acres, mostly open and want to remove snow from about 600ft driveway. Other uses around the home will vary. What is the best tractor for around 15k? Kubota vs. Deere, what is the best?

Carl, as for which is best; Kubota vs. Deere. Well, now that depends./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I'll say Kubota, since that's what I have and like best./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif And since this is on the John Deere forum, I know there's some Deere owners who will say Deere is best. They're both good tractors; go test drive both, and then you'll know which one is the best. The best one is the one you like the best.

Carl,
If you compare both tractors specs they are close, for Kubota has one horse power more than JD has more pto rpms etc..,so its to close to call.

Have you shown any interest in the New Holland TC18.

All three tractors should beable to do your task, just take your time and visit all three dealers in your area, also ask as many questions as you can think of also see if you can hand on test the tractor.

Bird has great wisdom.

Oh by the way...Kubota. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

First off get what you really want or you'll kick yourself for years to come. If impartial at this point, do the research on the web--lot of good sites (this is the best!). Check out the B2710 w/ 72" mid mower, should be only about $2k more than your target w/o FEL--incredible grass cutting machine.

Hands down it was Kubota for me. Lot of problems with the 4000 series from what I've read.

Carl, I have a 4100 and have been very pleased with it. The 4100 is made by Yanmar and has had an excellent mechanical and service history. I also looked at the B-7500 and really liked it too. I ended up with the 4100 because it was a lot cheaper at that time. Most mechanical specs on these 2 models are very comparable. You can't go wrong either way. Like was also mentioned-check out the new Holland models also. I do think that the one item that the 4100 has over the competition is the hydraulic capacity. Last I checked, the Deere was tops in this comparison.
