JD 4110HST
Hi, Newbie here. I have a JD 4110HST and after the last snow I noticed I was leaking hydraulic fluid. After much searching, I discovered it was coming from a gasket under a plate on the side of the tranny. (left side as you are sitting on the tractor) I couldn't tighten the bolts, so I loosened them and re'
-tightened them. As far as I can tell it has sopped leaking. However, It has not had any hard use since then. When it was leaking the tractor was under pretty heavy strain--snowblowing over a foot of heavy wet snow on a long driveway. Does the tranny build up more pressure under a heavy load that would cause the leak? If it starts to leak again, any suggestions or secrets I should know before replacing the gasket? (i.e. the shaft for the 4WD comes through that plate-new seal?)
Thanks, Jim

Welcome to TBN:D

I have the same machine, but have never had a leak...There should be no more pressure in that area of the transmission under load or at idle, it basically just the tank that hold the extra fluid. Just keep an eye on it, there may not even be a gasket under there-might just be RTV.

kennyd: Thanks for the reply. I am quite sure there is a gasket (I can see it) and I will surely keep an eye on it. Come to think of it, I looked up JD parts and I even have the part number written down. Just waxn't sure if I should have to replace it if I would need to replace thaat seal, too.
