JD 4200 3 pt goes down slow

Tractor is a JD 4200. After using the hydraulics on my 3 pt for a while it won't go down very fast. When the tractor is cold the 3 pt goes down fine but when warmed up I seem to have a problem.

What have you tried to fix it? Did you try to loosen you rate of drop knob? As for the change warm vs cold. What does the fluid look like? Is it milky colored. If so the fluid has water in it.

replaced the rockshaft control valve. fluid looks to be clean. the rate of drop knob in the fast postion.

I think that it would be highly unusual that it would drop faster with cold oil than warm oil. Normally it would be the opposite of that. Does your tractor have a load and depth selector lever or position control and was this hooked up correctly when the valve was replaced.

May have trash stopping up the rate of drop valve but I would determine for sure that the rate of drop is still faster with cold oil before proceeding.

took apart and disassembled the rate of drop assembly. Cleaned and replaced a worn out o-ring that fits on the drop valve itself. For now it seems to work fine but I haven't had time to work the tractor and heat it up yet. thank for the advice

I would guess the bad o-ring was the cause. Good Job!!!

Looks like I have a used rockshaft control valve for a JD 4200 for sale now. I replaced the original one thinking that was the problem. (not thinking but I was told that it was bad) So if anybody knows of anyone that is in need for a rockshaft control valve I have one. part #LVA15586
