jd 4200 hYDRAULIC PROBLEM

mY 4200 STANDARD has a hydraulic problem. Loader steering & 3pth does not work. Pumps squeels the return hose wants to collapse. I changed the oil, filter rinsed the system with disiel fuel Hydraulics worked fine with disiel fuel but when I put hydraulic oil in the loader started to work fine and in about five minutes it stopped responding. Can any one help with what or where is the problem. Thanks in advance rfewasko

I thought the steering hyd pump was a different hyd system, separate from the pump that runs the lift and the loader?? One thing you might try is to disconnect and then reconnect all the hoses, sometimes they lose the seal if not properly connected. Also check to make sure the hoses are hooked up correctly, ie the hoses on the loader. Good luck.

Check and make sure you are using the right hyd fluid for the system. Install a pressure gage for testing and maintenance.
Pump squeal could be the relief valve activating.

I can not think of a reason for a one or two wire hyd hose to collapse.

Did you clean or replace the suction screen? The suction hose collapsing indicates that the pumps can't suck oil through the screen/strainer. The strainer is inside the transmission right behind the cover where the suction hose attaches to the trans. Of course you will need to drain the trans BEFORE removing the hose or cover.
(J.J., The 4200 suction hose is more like a radiator hose than hydraulic hose).

He said a return hose collapse, and those are 2 wire, but he may be using wrong terminology, or wrong hose.

J.J., as usual your absolutly correct.
When I read "pumps squeal...return hose...collapse", I just assumed he meant the suction hose (oil return to the pump) - likely due to my own poor knowledge of the correct terminologies. If I guessed wrong: the OP should ignore my comments.
