Buddy of mine is needing some help. He borrowed his father in laws 4200 to mow his lot, while trying to shift from low to high range the rod broke at the transmission. Before taking it to a dealer I thought I would ask here if anyone has had any expierence with this and what it takes to fix it. Its not a hydro. he called it "collar shift"...
BTW I own a orange machine, try not and hold that against me :D

Thanks for any adivce
Chuck.

I suggest that you go to the JD parts catalog web-site, URL included. It includes part numbers and pictures. If you mean the shifting rod, then it looks like a simple job, you take out a spring pin, take off the old lever and put a new on and tap the pin back in.

I think the part you are look for is AM127748. ($33.75)

The second URL you can sign up (free) and get the cost. Good Luck.
